Having fun with bubbles - in a creative way

I have taken countless photos of my children blowing bubbles, I love them. While my children might have grown out of them, I still can't thing of anything which is so mundane and so beautiful at the same time.

This time, I decided to add a bit of magic - photoshop magic - to it.

When I planned the shot first, this is what I envisaged.

Then, just before the shot, I found a clear marble and came up with this idea:

Thanks for looking!

Sunset in Howth

My friend's daughter is expecting her first baby and a couple of weeks ago we went to Howth to take some photos of her and her partner.

My idea was to take some photos in a pretty sunset, with my friend assisting me with my flash and softbox. The weather forecast fooled me, the sky was almost totally grey but the couple were very brave and we managed to take some photos to record the pregnancy.

Can't wait for the arrival of their baby!

A Passion for Photography

Like many photographers, my interest in photography started with my first child -  I wanted to remember everything about her baby days. That was 12 years ago.

For a long time, I was more than happy with my point & shoot and its results. Eventually I started wanting to get better photos, asked around and bought my first DSLR, I read a bit, did a couple of online courses, got a little bit better and I was happy again.

Fast forward a few years and I realised I hadn't progressed at all from when I got my DSLR. If I wanted to get better, I'd have to do something.  Like joining a camera club. From the time I joined a Malahide Camera Club, 2 and 1/2 years ago, photography went from being a little hobby to something I feel passionate about.

Between the Camera Club and the community in ILP (http://ilovephotography.com/) , I have found the resources and the community that pushes me forward.

I am taking the scenic route, learning slowly, making mistakes on the way, but in the last year or so I started to see the progress I have been yearning for.

There's so much I need to learn, but I am loving the journey and I hope you will like what you see.
